Meet Our Team

Physicians

Attending Physicians

While you are in the hospital, your care will be supervised by an attending physician, who is either a hospitalist or your personal physician.

Hospitalists

BMH employs a team of physician specialists called hospitalists who provide attentive, expert and continuous patient care while you are in the hospital. All BMH hospitalists are board certified or board eligible.

Specialist Providers

Specialist physicians, as well as nurse practitioners, physician assistants or resident physicians (all working under the supervision of a physician) may be involved in your care. If you require anesthesia services, a certified registered nurse anesthetist or anesthesia assistant working under the supervision of an anesthesiologist may be involved in your care.

Nurses

In each nursing unit, a registered nurse is responsible for supervising patient care and directing the nursing and support staff of the unit. Registered nurses are assisted by nursing assistants and nurse technicians. The nursing staff is available around the clock.

Dietitians

A registered dietitian works with your health care team to develop a nutrition care plan for you as indicated. Registered dietitians are also available to educate you about any diets you may need to follow after you are discharged.

Rehabilitation Therapists

Your provider may request that a physical therapist, occupational therapist or speech therapist work with you to help meet goals of recovery. Therapy may range from brief consultation to long-term rehab intervention, depending on the extent of your injuries or illness. If you need a longer course of care, ask your provider about our inpatient Rehabilitation Unit or outpatient rehabilitation services.

Technicians and Technologists

Skilled health professionals perform and assist with labs, X-rays, mammograms, ultrasounds, CT scans, MRIs, cardiac catheterization, radiation therapy and other procedures that help in diagnosing and treating your illness or injury.

Care Coordinators

Care coordinators will review your medical record and are available to discuss your discharge plan and to assist with arrangements for home care, admission to a long-term care facility or rehabilitation care. They can also offer emotional support and guidance to help patients and their families deal with financial, social and emotional problems related to illness or hospitalization.

Pharmacists

While you are in the hospital, all of your medications are dispensed by our hospital pharmacists. They are available to help you understand your medications and their side effects.

Pastoral Care

Our chaplain and a group of volunteer ministers are available to all patients and their families. Please contact your nurse to request these services.

Patient Advocate

Our patient advocate is available to help address any issues or concerns you may have during your hospital stay. Call 843-522-5172 Monday through Friday during work hours, or ask for the nursing supervisor in the evenings or on weekends.

We Are Here to Serve You

If, at any time during your stay, you have a question about who is caring for you or you need help for any reason, please ask. Our staff members will find the right person to provide you with the care you need.
