LifeFit Wellness Services

Our medically supervised program helps members improve their fitness and wellness. Everyone who joins LifeFit receives a health assessment and an action plan.


Cardiac Rehabilitation 

Cardiac rehabilitation is a customized program designed to help you build cardiac strength and recover from a heart attack or heart surgery. Cardiac rehab can help you:


  • prevent future hospital stays and heart problems
  • address risk factors that can lead to coronary heart disease or stroke, such as high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, being overweight or obese, diabetes, smoking, lack of physical activity, depression and other emotional health concerns
  • adopt a healthy lifestyle


Call 911 if you have any of these signs & symptoms: 

  • pressure, fullness, tightness, burning or squeezing in your chest that lasts for more than a few minutes or goes away and comes back 
  • unexplained upper body discomfort that lasts for more than a few minutes or goes away and comes back 
  • pain that goes into your shoulders, neck, arms, jaw or back 
  • sweating and discomfort in chest 
  • lightheadedness, faintness, nausea or shortness of breath


STROKE Is an Emergency! Act F.A.S.T.

Every Minute Counts!


  • Face: Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?
  • Arms: Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to raise both arms. Does an arm drift downward?
  • Speech: Is speech slurred? Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence. Is the sentence repeated correctly?
  • Time: If the person shows any of these symptoms, CALL 9-1-1 immediately!


Key steps to reduce chest pain/heart attack and stroke risk: 

  • Lower high blood pressure.
  • Manage diabetes.
  • Reduce high cholesterol.
  • Be physically active every day.
  • Aim for and maintain a healthy weight.
  • Stop smoking.
  • Eat a diet low in fat, cholesterol and salt.
  • If diabetic, eat an ADA diet as prescribed by your doctor. Check blood sugar often and keep diabetes under control.


Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Pulmonary rehabilitation is a program that helps to improve the well-being of people with chronic breathing problems. Pulmonary rehabilitation will provide you with:


  • exercise training
  • nutritional counseling
  • education on your lung disease or condition and how to manage it
  • energy-conserving techniques
  • breathing strategies
  • psychological counseling and/or group support


Call a doctor if you have any of these symptoms:

  • sudden weight gain of more than three pounds
  • trouble sleeping or lying flat 
  • shortness of breath with usual activities 
  • swollen abdomen (fullness) 
  • frequent dry, hacking cough, worse at night 
  • dizzy spells 
  • swelling of ankles, feet, legs, hands 
  • chest pain or tightness 
  • unusual tiredness or lack of energy

LifeFit Nutrition Services 

Providing both inpatient and outpatient services, the dietitians are specially trained in diabetes and risk factor reduction. General patient goals include attaining and maintaining an ideal blood glucose level, developing and following a customized diet and exercise plan, and working through the emotional aspects of diabetes. Certified by the American Diabetes Association.


LifeFit Wellness Center

The LifeFit Wellness Center is not just a gym. Every LifeFit member is assigned a wellness coach who coordinates a care plan, including an exercise prescription that is customized for each client. Please visit BeaufortMemorial.org/LifeFit for more information on a LifeFit Wellness Membership.


Community Health Improvement Program

This program includes the Mobile Wellness Unit and Baby University. To schedule the Community Health Improvement Program, including the Mobile Wellness Unit, call 843-522-5568.
